Illustrations

As part of a recent project with Bath Preservation Trust I illustrated a short story all about the life of Caroline Herschel. Sister of the famous Georgian Astronomer George Herschel, he discovered Uranus. Caroline was the first ever female astronomer and was the first to be paid for her work! She discovered many comets in her work and was not celebrated as much as her brother, mainly due to the fact she was a woman.

I’ve been creating an Early Years loan box, which will be delivered to a school group before or after their trip to the Herschel Museum. The box includes lots of sensory objects and story books which can be used to enrich and support children’s wider learning about the night sky. My illustrations are part of a short biography and hopefully capture her positive and determined nature.
